Persipura Jayapura is formed in 1950. Persipura Jayapura (acronym for Persatuan Sepakbola Indonesia Jayapura) is a West Papuan football club located in Jayapura, Papua Province, Indonesia.

Persipura Jaypura is made up of mostly players of Melanesian origin hence the nickname The Black Pearls or Mutiara Hitam in Indonesian. Persipura is considered as one of the elite football clubs in Indonesia having won the Indonesian league three times in 1976, 2005 and 2008/09.

Persipura's ground is known as the Mandala Stadium with has the capacity over of 25,000 people.The Stadium near the beach it name Dok V (lima) beach. The Stadium have beautiful view and close to Fisher village. On the east background Cyclope Mountain.
